1/350 (Trumpeter)

Howdy Folks! Here's my first submission to Modelwarships.com. (Although I have seen a snapshot of a U-boat I had at Nationals last year displayed here.) Anyway, well I was pretty excited to see Trumpeter come out with a Burke-class Flight I-type ship. I was waiting for someone to put out a good version of this kit for quite sometime. I build in numerous types of scales, but 1/350 is what I feel most comfortable with and have the most experience with (as far as ships are concerned.)

I've had the chance to get up close and personal with several of these ships (being a former sailor of the modern US Navy.) I do have to admit I have good references to work from. Anyway, one of my friends (& former coworker) was a sailor from the USS Cole. I really wanted to build of these ships and get my skills up so I offered to build him one strictly for the cost of the parts. The pleasure was all mine, and this was my 1st commission build. I did what I could to get it done in time before a big move that my family and I just made so there are some issues that I had to live with in order to get it done, but overall I thought it turned out well...

Here's the parts I used to craft my ship:

    * Trumpeter 1/350 USS Arleigh Burke
    * WEM 1/350 Arleigh Burke detail set
    * WEM US Navy Colourcoats (Haze Grey, Hull Red, Deck Grey)
    * GMM 1/350 Watertight Doors
    * Veteran Models 1/350 Torpedo Launchers, "Big Eyes" and Spotlight.
    * GMM 1/350 Naval Ship Decals
    * Hawk Decals 1/350 Low-Viz Hull numbers
    * Commander's Series (Iron Shipwrights) 1/350 signal flag set (this where the awards, Battle 'E' markings, and DESRON insignia come from.)
    * Grandpa's Cabinet's Custom Display Cases
