Hi Roma, many thanks again for your regular updates, this is a very fine example of the model shipwrighting skills.
A general question for you or the forum - I have bnow seen several models with the gunport lids (portes) having a mass of brass nail inserts on the inner side.
Was this a European ship building practice?
What purpose did it serve?
Please understand that I am not making any suggestion (implied or otherwise) that it is not a correct practice; rather, I am trying to educate myself about why, and which nations used this practice.

first of all I can fully agree with your statement referring the update.....everytime very interesting to see
These brass nails on the lids you can find especially on the model of historic french ships,
also shown often in the plans of ancre (Boudriot, Delacroix etc.)!
I do not know about the reason they did it in the past, maybe for additional stiffening of this weak point of protection of a hull,
but I do not it be heart, so I have to try to find something written in the ancre monographies or in the book "74 gun ship" by Jean Boudriot!

Many thanks Uwe for explanation to BANYAN why I inserted brass nailes to the portes.
Hingers. To my regret I allready made all necessary hingers for Requin. But I will show how I make above as soon as possible.
