1/300 Oktyabr'skaya Revolutsiya (Maly Modelarz)
The October Revolution was built (under the name "Gangut") for the Czar's navy in 1909 and entered service during WWI. She was armed with twelve 12" guns. The new name of Oktyabr'skaya Revolutsiya was given to the ship in the 1920s. She spent WWII in the Baltic, shelling various land targets in action against the Finns and the Germans. Along with her sisters she served with the Red Navy well into the 1950s.
The ships are certainly unusual in appearance. There are some resin kits in 1/700, but nothing larger (that I'm aware of) outside of this vintage 1987 paper kit from Maly Modelarz.
Like other older kits from this manufacturer, it's printed on very rough paper that is not easy to work with. I enhanced the build with some paper railings and bits of sprue, thread, and wire.
What I've ended up with would probably be best characterized as a "representation," rather than a true scale model, but it was a fun project and adds a unique ship to my collection!
